10-man Doncaster Come Away With 0-0 Draw

10-man Doncaster Come Away With 0-0 Draw

Doncaster would now feel they have the advantage in their League One play-off with Southend now having managed to come through their away leg with a 0-0 draw on Friday night, although Paul Hefferman was sent off late on for a headbutt on Paul Clarke.

The result pleased Sean O'Driscoll who didn't think there was much between the sides: 'They were two good teams that cancelled each other out,' O'Driscoll told BBC Sport. 'We got on top in the second half but Southend came storming back and I think it will be tight in the second leg.

'We were disciplined and organised, played when we had the opportunity to but I would have liked to create a few more goalscoring chances.'

Do Doncaster have the upper hand going into the home second leg on Friday, or will that count for nothing?

Stupid sending off for Heffernan, I think the way the play offs go its not much of an advantage and still all to play for.

You should have enough with 11 men in the second leg to win this tie. Good luck if you get to the final.

Bit of a false headline he was only sent off at the end

Do away goals count in the playoffs? If so, then its not really an advantage for Doncaster as a score draw would still put Southend through.

of course away goals dont count in the play-offs. tut. anyway if you come up you'll get at least 6 points from Barnsley - but the rest will be tough to get!
