DRFC - Chairman wants play off spot

DRFC - Chairman wants play off spot

Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan wants the club to emulate what Bristol City did in their first season in the Championship by reaching the play offs.

Bristol lost out in the play off final at Wembley in May after being in the promotion shake up for most of the season.

The former plastic surgeon who`s sunk millions into his home town club, promised a return to the Championship when he took over ten years ago. Now he wants Rovers to be pushing towards promotion to the Premiership in their first season back in the second tier of English football in fifty years.

Ryan speaking to Yorkshire sport said "Everyone is saying we are going to be relegation favourites, which is fair enough. But I think there's a great belief in the lads that we can do a lot better than that and do a Bristol City"

Rovers have started off very well winning at Derby on the opening day and only failing to beat Cardiff when conceding in the last few minutes on Saturday.
The popular chairman continued "They (Bristol City) were no great shakes when we were in the same division. Looking at it from one aspect, if we stay up, I'll be delighted. But we want to do better than that.'

Can we start dreaming of another return trip to Wembley in May or is John Ryan getting a little carried away?
