DRFC - Rovers sign keeper

Doncaster Rovers have signed goalkeeper Jamie Waite on a non contract basis.

Waite was born in Plymouth but his mother is from Thailand and he represents the country internationally.
He became the second youngest international ever when he made his debut at only 15 years and 354 days.

What`s even more remarkable about the youngster is he`s just battled cancer.

He was diagnosed with cancer of the lymph gland which spread to his chest and abdomen.
After a ten month course of chemotherapy he was given the all clear and was able to resurrect his career at the end of 2007.

Waite started at Rotherham on a scholarship before moving around clubs without ever making a senior appearance. He`s spent most of his time moving around non League clubs as well as periods at League sides MK Dons and Bradford.
Doncaster is actually the fifteenth club he`s joined during his short career.

The 22 year old keeper signs after being recommended to the club by old Rovers goalkeeping coach Barry Richardson who had him on trial at Nottingham Forest.

The shot stopper is looking forward to starting at Rovers and speaking to the official website said "The club is awesome. I`m looking forward to getting started at Rovers and hopefully this will be the move that can kick start my career"

With the transfer window now closed till January Waite will probably be back up for Neil Sullivan and Ben Smith.

He seems to have been around a bit without playing for a youngster!
