DRFC  Doncaster beat Leeds in friendly

Rovers played a behind closed door friendly this afternoon against Leeds United.
The game was played over three periods with sixteen players getting a run out.
It was an opportunity to give Jason Price and Darren Byfield some much needed competitive football after recently recovering from operations.

New goalkeeper Jamie Waite also made his debut for the club.

Rovers without a competitive game now until 13th September because of the international break put out a strong squad.

Rover`s went two up in the first period with goals from Stuart Elliott and Tomi Ameobi against his former club.


Byfield who came on late on Saturday will now be hoping for a first full appearance against his former club Bristol City when the League fixtures start again.

Team:
First period: Ben Smith, Mark Wilson, Jos Van Nieuwstadt, Adam Lockwood, James Chambers, Martin Woods, Wade Fairhurst, John Spicer, Stuart Elliott, Paul Heffernan and Tomi Ameobi.


Second period: Ben Smith, Mark Wilson, Jos Van Nieuwstadt, Adam Lockwood, James Chambers, Martin Woods, John Spicer, Stuart Elliott, Paul Heffernan, Jason Price and Darren Byfield.


Third period: Ben Smith (Jamie Waite), Mark Wilson, Jos Van Nieuwstadt, Adam Lockwood, Joe Conkleton, Martin Woods (Robbie Calrk), John Spicer, Tomi Ameobi and Darren Byfield.

I am sure Byfield will really want to be part of the starting eleven when he go's back to Bristol City on the 20th. [Edited by didcot]
