'If It's Football, It's Vital'

DRFC -Doncaster Rovers Belles face closure!

Doncaster Rovers Belles the oldest club in the women`s Premier League are on the brink of extinction after losing a major sponsor.
They are one of the most successful clubs in English women`s football history and celebrate their 40th anniversary in January if they can last that long.

The ladies have won the Women`s FA Cup seven times and reached the final a further six.

There is a real danger that unless they find a new sponsor the club could close after Sunday`s game against Arsenal.

At the moment the club cannot even afford the money to hire a coach that will take them down to London.

The Belles have been offered help from Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Council and Doncaster College. Unfortunately the money they are offering will not come through until the end of the month by which time could be too late to save the club.

The Belles, managed by former Rovers favourite John Buckley said on the BBC website 'It would be a catastrophe to see the name Doncaster Belles go out of existence"

I wish them all the best in finding the funds they need.

I really hope they can get some funds sorted out. The club have a great history and have been a credit to Doncaster over the years.
