DRFC - Byfield to be key for Doncaster

Darren Byfield has a leading role to play for Doncaster Rovers this season according to boss Sean O`Driscoll.

The striker who signed in the summer from Bristol City has so far only made a brief first team appearance against Coventry; he also played sixty minutes during a friendly against Leeds last week scoring his first goal for the club.

Byfield was last season`s top scorer at Bristol City helping them to the play off final at Wembley. He was an unused substitute for that game and was then released by the Robins in the summer.

Speaking in The Star about Darren`s Championship experience O`Driscoll said "He`s done it at this level and he has pace and experience and he has a key role to play here with what he offers us"

With the return to fitness of Jason Price as well Rovers now have five recognised forwards fighting for a starting place against Birmingham City this weekend.

Rovers will be cheered on by another good following at Birmingham having already sold over 1400 tickets.

Really looking forward to seeing having a run in the side.

Who will you drop to play him?

Very hard question, both Taylor and Guy have been playing well. I think Byfield would play better playing off a big man so I would have to drop Guy. I would be even inclined to drop them both in favour of a Byfield and Price forward line.

Good luck Donny from a Bournemouth fan. It's nice to see so many of our 'exes' doing well even if they don't play for us anymore!
