Vital Doncaster caught up with Vital Bristol City site editor Cider Jar to get the low down on things that Rovers fans could find useful on Saturday.
Which Pubs would you recommend for Rovers fans to visit?
I wouldn't particularly recommend any of them as most of the pubs are just the kind of places you can get anywhere so don't expect anything flash!
There`s plenty of others to choose from, try the City centre if you want a decent pint but don't expect much space as that`s pretty much everyone`s pre-match preparation!
Which pubs would you tell Rovers fans to stay well clear of?
Having never been an opposition fan I'm not an expert though away supporters aren't allowed in most of the pubs around the ground so apart from that the choice is yours.
Best places to get food from?
Because much of the area around is residential there are a few shops and places to get food around. The food inside the ground is ok as well, you get what you pay for though so maybe try one of the stalls or vans just outside. There`s a KFC nearby if that tickles your fancy and head up towards North Street if you want a decent choice.
Can you get a drink inside the ground?
As you expect there are some good, if a little pricey, places to get a
drink. Queues can be a little draining but get there early and you'll
have no problem.
How good is the away end for viewing, space and facilities?
The away end is alright actually. I'm not going to pretend its Old Trafford or the Nou Camp there`s some pillars which get in your way admittedly but the facilities are everything you need and usually provides you with a good chance to make some noise.
How easy is the ground to find?
Pretty easy, Ashton Gate is well signposted and quite visible even from a distance. Usually on a match day you can be guaranteed a safe passage to the ground if you follow the hoards of people heading in one direction.
Best place for away fans to park?
Like most stadiums parking is a bit of a mare, but it is better than some grounds around the country I`ve been too.
Street parking is limited but there are a few allocated areas. I'd do as the club suggests and try Duckmoor Road or any of the streets nearby.
Do you know how much you charge for away fans admission?
As far as I know it's about £25 to get in for adults, that`s the usual price anyway. There are the usual senior, junior and student discounts applied.
How do you think you will fair this season?
I think we'll do alright, people kept writing us off as a flash in the pan last year but we're a decent side. I don't think we'll be so close to the top two this time but I fancy us for a place in at least the top eight, top six again would be fantastic. We have a brilliant ambitious manager who believes in our players and I think we'll be challengers in the Championship for a few years yet!
Who is your key player?
One of our key players is missing, Marvin Elliott which has a lot to do with our slightly stuttering start. I'm a strong believer that with a good forward you can score your way out of the Championship so I'll go with Nicky Maynard. He's only got one so far but he's learning at this level and has a bright future ahead of him.
How do you think Rovers will do in our first season in the Championship?
I think Donny will do ok this season, well in fact. If your ambition is just to stay in the Division I think you will achieve that easily as there are definitely three teams who are worse than you. As Hull and ourselves have proved in recent seasons the Championship is wide open and can be won by basically anyone. Put a run together at the right time and who knows what could happen.
Finally who do you think will win the Championship this season?
Wolves have started well but they always appear like they could collapse at anytime. I can't look any further than Birmingham; they beat us on Tuesday and have looked in good form in all their other games. If you look at their team they still have a side capable of achieving things in the Premiership, I really don't know how they got relegated!
