DRFC - Reading v Doncaster Rovers preview

DRFC - Reading v Doncaster Rovers preview

After gaining their first point in seven games on Saturday Rovers make the hard trip to Reading on Tuesday night.

It was the first fixture I looked for this season; I have the short journey of eighteen miles to get to an away game!

Form
Reading`s indifferent away form continued at the weekend when they lost 2-1 at Preston North End after being 1-0 in front.
So far at home this season their form has been fantastic winning five out of five and scoring nineteen goals in the process.

Doncaster got a point in a 0-0 home draw with Blackpool to bring an end to six straight defeats.
So far on their travels they have won at Derby and lost at QPR, Birmingham, Bristol City and Barnsley.

Team news
Reading
Reading have no fresh injury problems for the game from the team defeated at Preston at the weekend.

Doncaster
Rovers will still be without influential midfielder Richie Wellens who has a groin injury.
Adam Lockwood suffered a back injury in the weekend game and looks set to miss out.
Gordon Greer is back in contention to replace him after his long term injury.

History
Reading have been a bit of a bogey side to Doncaster over the years and have an impressive record against the reds.
At Reading there have been eighteen meetings with Reading winning fourteen, Rovers three and one draw.
Although at Doncaster the two clubs played out an amazing game at Belle Vue in1982 when Doncaster won 7-5, Kerry Dixon scored four goals for the visitors. I was at the game that day and it could have easily been 10-10!!! Rovers had an amazing run of home results at the time and the sequence went 6-1, 7-5, 3-6 and 4-4 in four consecutive home games.
