DRFC - Wellens to return for Wednesday clash

Richie Wellens should be back for the South Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Last seasons player of the season has missed the last five games with a groin injury but appeared in a friendly against Aston Villa for 45 minutes on Tuesday.

Assistant boss Richard O`Kelly speaking in The Star said 'He did OK and was pleased to get half a game under his belt. He looked good on the ball but he never looks anything else"

Also coming through 90 minutes was defender Gordon Greer who has been a long term absentee and has not played in 2008.

O`Kelly also spoke about Greer in the same interview and said "Gordon played the full 90 minutes which he was really pleased with. The longer the game went on the better he looked"

Rovers beat a youthful Villa side 2-1 after trailing 1-0 with John Spicer scoring both goals.

Also getting a run out for the Rovers were Sam Hird and Gareth Taylor who have both recently been injured and both completed an hour.
