DRFC - Windass turns down Rovers

Dean Windass has turned down the opportunity to join Doncaster Rovers on loan.

The 39 year old striker has had clear the air talks with Tigers boss Phil Brown after being left out of the side altogether at Manchester United last weekend.

The news comes as a blow to Rovers who currently sit bottom of The Championship having only scored seven goals all season.

Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll speaking in The Star said "We had conversations with Phil Brown this week about the availability of Dean Windass. He'd like to stay at Hull so that was another avenue opened and closed"

Rovers are believed to be looking at other strikers with Burnley`s Ade Akinbiyi being one name that`s been mentioned in the press.

I was hoping we would have a new striker before Saturday

I think Ade/Windass type player would be a good signing for you - Basically someone who is a pain in the backside for defenders
