DRFC- Doncaster sign striker

Doncaster Rovers have signed Bristol City striker Steve Brooker on an initial one month loan deal with a view to a permanent deal.

Doncaster fans will be familiar with Brooker who managed to score three goals in two games against Rovers in the 2004/05 season.

Rovers who have struggled to find the back of the net so far this season have only scored eight goals in the League, only one striker Lewis Guy has found the net on two occasions with the rest of the goals coming from midfield and defence.

27 year old Brooker is an experienced striker who has scored plenty of goals at this level for Bristol City over the last few years although injuries have interrupted his season on both occasions.

He`s also had his problems off the pitch and was sentenced to 28 days in prison along with two Bristol City team mates for his involvement in a pub brawl in 2006.

He burst onto the scene with Port vale in 2001 and scored 36 goals in 129 appearances during three years with the club before being sold onto Bristol City.
He`s spent the last four years at Bristol City scoring 37 goals in 101 appearances and was player of the season in 2005/06 when he was top scorer scoring 16 goals.

He had a loan spell at Cheltenham earlier this season and scored 5 goals in 14 appearances.

So far this season he`s managed three goals in six appearances.

Brooker finally end`s Sean O`Driscoll`s search for a striker and hopefully he can be someone who can help kick start Rovers season in front of goal.

Hopefully he will go straight into the squad for Saturday`s game at Watford.
