Brian Stock - Doncaster Rovers: PFA interview
Doncaster skipper Brian Stock hopes Rovers' recent unbeaten run will be the platform for Championship survival this season. Newly-promoted Rovers have been playing attractive football but goals have been hard to come by. However, Stock pointed the way forward on Saturday with a 30-yard strike to sink Plymouth at the Keepmoat Stadium as Rovers pulled away from the bottom of the table.
Stock knows more goals are needed but points to Rovers` mean defence and, in particular, veteran goalkeeper Neil Sullivan who has kept a string of clean sheets this term. Doncaster`s safety is Stock's prime concern but he is also hoping that a run of form earns him a first Wales cap after having to drop out of previous squads with a back problem.
Givemefootball`s Ian Clarkson spoke to Stock and found him in optimistic mood after his spectacular third goal of the season.
THAT WAS A GREAT RESULT AGAINST PLYMOUTH BUT IS GETTING OFF BOTTOM OFF THE TABLE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING?
We`ve gone five games unbeaten now and we`re putting a good run together at the right time. It`s pleasing to get off the bottom of the table, but we have two tough away games now, let's see if we can get something there.
IS IT COMING RIGHT AFTER STICKING TO YOUR BELIEFS ABOUT THE WAY YOU PLAY?
We`ve not feared any team, we`ve played well against the best teams in the league and done well, we just haven`t put the ball in the net. We've kept a lot of clean sheets for a team that's bottom of the league and that's pleasing to see. At 1-0 it was a good result against a good Plymouth team.
YOU CAN'T GET MORE THAN ONE GOAL IN A GAME YET COULD HAVE HAD THREE OR FOUR ON SATURDAY?
