'If It's Football, It's Vital'

DRFC - Villa date confirmed

Doncaster have confirmed that if they progress through to the fourth round of the FA Cup the tie against Aston Villa will take place on Saturday 24th January.

A lot of fans were concerned regarding ticket arrangements for the tie after Tuesday`s third round tie at Cheltenham ended in a draw forcing a replay next Tuesday 20th January.

With horse racing at Doncaster next Saturday fans were convinced that the usual arrangement of the football club having to move their fixture would happen, after meetings with all relevant parties the FA Cup tie will be allowed to take place on the same day as the racing which will be a first since moving to the new stadium.

It`s even more surprising considering the fact that the game is likely to be a sell out.

I hope personally that this will now be allowed to continue and we will no longer have to play games on either a Friday night or Sunday afternoon to accommodate the racing.

I cannot understand that after years at Belle Vue and then the keepmoat of not being able to play on the same day as the racing we suddenly can when we could be playing in front of a sell out.
