DRFC - Tomi Ameobi joins Mansfield on loan

Three players have left Doncaster Rovers in the last 24 hours but we still await our first signing.

On Wednesday Rovers released youngsters Craig Nelthorpe and Adam Boyce from their contracts as they have both failed to break into the first team.

21 year old Nelthorpe made ten appearances for Rovers including scoring on the last day of the season in 2007 against Northampton Town.

He`s quickly been snapped up by Blue Square conference side Oxford United for the rest of the season.

19 year old defender Boyce hasn`t been able to break into the Rovers side since signing professional forms and he`s been on loan at Worksop Town this season.

Highly regarded striker Tomi Ameobi has joined another conference side in Mansfield Town on a month`s loan.

Ameobi came off the bench recently and played against Wolverhampton Wanderers but he`s struggled to break his way into the side.

O`Driscoll still sees the 19 year old in his long term plans at the club and still stands by his comments about the former Leeds youngster when he says that "he`s got a bright future ahead of him"

Rovers just see the opportunity for the youngster to get some games and experience under his belt.

It'll give him a bit of experience, shame to see Nelly leave, I thought he had a great future with us ahead of him.
