The most important game between the sides was on the last day of last season when Cheltenham needed a victory to avoid relegation and Rovers needed a victory for automatic promotion, the home side eventually won 2-1 with the Cheltenham keeper Shane Higgs having the game of his life keeping out the Rovers attack.
The two clubs met last Tuesday in their rearranged FA Cup tie, Paul Heffernan came closest for Doncaster when missing with a free header in the first half and then seeing a shot hit the post and run across the line.
