DRFC - Ex Rovers Paul Birch sadly dies

Ex Doncaster Rovers midfielder Paul Birch has sadly died at the age of 46 today (February 2nd).

Birch had been fighting a long battle with bone cancer, our deepest condolences go to his family and friends

The midfielder whose career spanned over 19 years at Aston Villa, Wolves, Preston, Rovers and Exeter City making over 400 appearances during that time.

He made 27 appearances for Rovers during our ill fated relegation season of 1997/98 but was a popular player amongst the Rovers crowd.

With Doncaster travelling to Villa Park for a FA Cup replay on Wednesday hopefully something will be arranged for fans of both clubs to mark his sad passing with either a minute`s applause or silence.
