DRFC - Rovers turn down bid for Mills

Doncaster Rovers turned down a substantial offer from Birmingham City for defender Matt Mills on transfer deadline day.

Birmingham have been keeping a close eye on 22 year old defender recently with their boss Alex McLeish or his assistant Roy Aitkin at the last few home games monitoring his progress.

Mills joined Doncaster last summer for a club record fee of £300,000 from Manchester City after spending most of last season on loan at the club.

Rovers fans were a little worried going into the final day of the transfer window with rumours that big money offers were on the table for quite a few of Doncaster`s influential players.

Great credit must be given to the Rovers board for turning down these approaches after they have come under some criticism from certain sections of the fans for not spending much money to keep Rovers in the Championship.

Rovers have made two great signings in the last week bringing in Steve Brooker from Bristol City and Dean Shiels from Hibernian to help with Rovers lack of goals this season.

Rovers are currently unbeaten in eight games and are now just outside the relegation zone.

Well done to the board for not being bullied into selling one of our main assets.
