DRFC - Goalscoring problem!!

Doncaster have now gone eleven games since they last failed to find the back of the net after struggling to find goals prior to Christmas.

Rovers had only managed eleven goals all season prior to the Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day and hadn`t even managed two in a single game!

They tried to solve their striker problem by bringing in striker Steve Brooker from Bristol City and things looked good when he came off the bench to score within ten minutes of his debut, unfortunately a calf injury in training the week after forced him to return to his parent club.

Rovers who had continuously been the better team in most of their games new that a change of fortune in front of goal would bring them points with them having one of the best defensive records in the Championship, only current league leaders Wolves have kept more clean sheets all season.

There can surely be no coincidence in Rovers change in fortunes since a regular starting spot for striker Paul Heffernan. Heffernan scored his eighth goal of the season in Friday nights 2-1 win over Derby having only broken his duck for the season in the 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace.

With strikers Steve Brooker and Dean Shiels arriving at the Keepmoat in the January transfer window (but have yet to start a game) things are well and truly on the up for the Rovers and another season in the Championship gets closer and closer.

I just hope I haven`t given them the kiss of death with this report!
