DRFC - Cardiff v Doncaster preview

Doncaster travel to promotion chasing Cardiff City on Saturday hoping to continue their march away from the relegation zone.

Cardiff beat Barnsley 3-1 at Ninian Park on Tuesday night and if they win their games in hand could be two points behind leaders Wolves.
They are now unbeaten at home in ten games dating back to November 1st when they lost 1-0 against Wolves.

Doncaster
Rovers won their ninth game out of the last eleven when they beat Charlton Athletic 2-1 at the Valley on Tuesday night.
Their only defeat in this time was when they last visited Wales and lost at Cardiff`s arch enemies Swansea City.

History

The two clubs paths have only ever crossed twelve times at Ninian Park with the home side winning seven to Doncaster`s three with two being draws.

Although in Rovers last seven visits they have won three and lost three.

The last time they met at Cardiff was in Rovers ill fated season of 1997/98 when they conceded 113 goals in the season has they were relegated out of the Football League, On the 14th March 1998 Cardiff won 7-1!!!

Rovers did visit Cardiff in 2007 when they played at the impressive Millennium stadium in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy final against Bristol Rovers on that day Rovers won 3-2, how things have changed in the ten years since last visiting!


When the two clubs met earlier this season Rovers took the lead through Lewis Guy but a last minute goal from ex Rover Ross McCormack gave the Bluebirds a point.
