DRFC - Chairman looks to build on this season

Doncaster Rovers Chairman John Ryan believes after a season of consolidation in the Championship the club are ready to move up to the next level.

Ryan believes the club could be pushing for a Play off spot next season after an impressive second half of the season which has seen them rise from bottom to thirteenth in the table with one game remaining.

Speaking in the Sheffield Star Ryan said 'If you take our form from Christmas until the end of the season we'd be second in the league and that's over a long period of time of 20-odd games, so it just shows we are capable there's no doubt about it.

Rovers competed strongly and looked much the better team against a number of clubs who currently occupy the top six. If it hadn`t been for an incapability to find the back of the net along with not getting a fair rub of the green with refereeing decisions before Christmas Doncaster could well be looking at the Play Offs this season.

The Chairman who has helped take Doncaster fans on a whirlwind journey through the League`s in the past six years, as well as bringing the first domestic trophy to the club in its 130 year history showed his intention to continue moving the club up when he turned down a big money offer from Birmingham City for Matt Mills in January.

I think if we'd had an half decent first half of the season we would be close to a Play off spot this season. Lets hope we can keep the vultures at bay over the summer who are after Mills, Stock etc...etc...
