DRFC - Wolves v Doncaster preview

Doncaster travel to newly crowned champions Wolverhampton Wanderers for their final game of the season.

Form

Wolves
Wolves have won the title with one game to spare after a late equaliser at Barnsley last Saturday.

Last time out at home they beat Queens Park Rangers 1-0 thanks to an early second half strike by leading goalscorer Sylvain Ebanks-Blake.

Doncaster Rovers
Rovers recorded their first home win in five last weekend with a 2-0 home victory over Crystal Palace, that result sees them comfortably sat in mid table.

Last time out away, goals from John Spicer, James Hayter and Paul Heffernan gave them a comprehensive 3-0 victory at Plymouth Argyle, a result that guaranteed them Championship football next season.

History

The two clubs have only ever met five times with only two of them at Wolves.

The last time they met at Molineux was in October 1985 when two wonderful strikes from Colin Douglas earned Rovers all three points in a 2-1 victory. It was a strange atmosphere that day with two sides of the ground closed and one of the stands that was open being at least thirty yards from the pitch.

When the two clubs met earlier in the season at Doncaster, Wolves took all three points when Neil Collins headed in with less than ten minutes remaining.
Rovers were very unfortunate to come away with nothing and were annoyed to have a blatant penalty shout turned away by the referee when Lewis Guy was pushed to the ground by Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey.

Should be a good game against the newly crowned champions. Fitting place for Sean O'Driscoll to finish the season as he's been a Wolves fan all his life.
