DRFC - Rovers start pre season with a win

Doncaster Rovers started their pre season friendly campaign with victory at Doncaster side Armthorpe Welfare.

The club have only been back in training since Monday and used the game to improve their fitness with two different sides having the chance to play a half each, only Wade Fairhurst started the second half from the side that started the first.

A competitive Armthorpe side gave Rovers a good work out and it took nearly fourty minutes for Rovers to finally take the lead when Paul Heffernan scored from close range.

Rovers doubled the lead with just over twenty minutes left when Lewis Guy scored.

Armthorpe were not done yet and two goals in the space of three minutes made the score 2-2, first Bruno Holden and then James Walker scored for the home side.

Rovers were soon back in front when James Hayter secured the victory from the penalty spot.

A good work out for Rovers in their first pre season game with exactly a month to go until the new season starts.

Next up in pre season is an away game at Barrow on July 18th.

Sounds like Armthorpe gave it a good go and gave us a good work out.

Where was Matt Mills?
Our Kids Dad
Either Wolverhampton, Nottingham or Birmingham!!!

The rumour is Mills had a slight ankle injury and the club didn't want to take any chances! Chances with what? losing out on the money they are obviously going to take very soon if he picks up a serious injury!
