DRFC Ryan - We couldn't match Wellens offer

John Ryan has admitted that the club couldn`t match Leicester City`s offer to keep Richie Wellens at Doncaster.

Wellens joined Leicester this week in a deal that could be worth up to 1.2 million to Rovers in the long run.

The 29 year old midfielder seemed happy at Rovers but the offer of a four year deal on better wages was too good to turn down.

Speaking in the Doncaster Free Press Ryan said 'When clubs come along and offer far more money than we can afford, the plain fact is we are out of the game".

The worrying thing now is clubs that have shown an interest in defender Matt Mills and midfielder Brian Stock may come knocking once again.

We can't afford to lose either Mills or stock now otherwise I think we are in for a long difficult season and not one chasing the Play offs!

It looks like it! I am getting worried especially if Mills and Stock get sold.
