O'Driscoll unsure what to do with Wellens cash

Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O`Driscoll says the club may not replace midfielder Richie Wellens who left to join Leicester City earlier this week.

Speaking on the official website O`Driscoll said "We`ve got a talented midfield so do we bring in another midfield player or do we bring in somebody else in an area that the squad can be strengthened in? That`s the conundrum that we`ve got".

Rovers have still yet to make a signing so far this summer whilst they have released Darren Byfield, Gareth Taylor, Jason Price, Gordon Greer and sold Richie Wellens.

Chairman John Ryan has made clear that not all the money that was made from the Richie Wellens sale will be allowed on transfers coming in, Rovers made a deficit of £3.2 million the previous year so understandably some cash needs to be used to clear that.

O`Driscoll has said however that he doesn`t want to use the cash he is given on just one player and would rather bring in a few to strengthen what is a small squad.

I think we need to start bringing players in very soon to settle in ahead of the new season. Also the natives around the Keepmoat will be getting restless!
