DRFC Rovers show Sharp interest

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll has admitted making an enquiry about Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp.

Speaking in the Sheffield Star O`Driscoll said "We contacted Sheffield United, asked some questions - about the length of his contract, the wages he's on, whatever transfer fee they might want or if they were wanting to loan him out."

United boosted their forward line with the signing of Ched Evans last week and Sharp may now be surplus to requirements.

Sharp joined the Blades in the summer of 2007 for 2 million after two years at Scunthorpe United where he scored 55 goals in 93 appearances.

The 23 year old has struggled to find the same goalscoring form during his time at Bramall Lane managing only 12 goals in 62 games.

According to the webiste Wikipedia he will sign for Rovers this week for 1.5 million. Can't see Rovers splashing that sort of cash, unless a certain someone is about to leave for a huge fee?
