Former Rovers players arrested in bonding session

Three former Doncaster Rovers players have been arrested after a bonding night organised by their club York City.

Craig Nelthorpe who was released by Rovers during last season along with goalkeeper Michael Ingham who had a loan spell at Doncaster Rovers in 2004, and Michael Rankine who came through Rovers youth system were arrested along with Michael Gash.

An altercation between the four footballers and two men happened in the early hours of Sunday morning in a takeaway which left one of the two men in needing hospital treatment for facial injuries.

Speaking in the York Press, Mark Iveson, Acting Chief Inspector of Operations for North Yorkshire Police, said "The incident escalated into violence" and the two men were subjected to a "serious assault" which left one of them in hospital with facial injuries.
All four players have been released on Police bail whilst the carry on with their inquiries.
