DRFC Ryan - We tried everything to keep Mills

Doncaster Rovers chairman said the club tried everything in their powers to keep defender Matt Mills at the club, who has left to join Reading today.

Speaking on Football heaven on Radio Sheffield, Ryan said "Mills was desperate to go, I had Mills at my home along with Sean (O`Driscoll), we did everything we could, we offered him a future percentage of any transfer but when agents get busy, it`s very difficult".

Ryan confirmed that Rovers receive £1.5 million from Reading over the next twelve months and upto £500,000 more depending on how well Reading and Mills do in the Championship in the next season.

Ryan also said that Manchester City had a 20% sell on clause in Mills transfer last summer, but Rovers have also included a 20% sell on clause with Reading in any future deal with him leaving the Royals.

The chairman confirmed the signing of Byron Webster and also said that two more had been signed (since the show Mustapha Dumbuya has been revealed) so still one more as to be revealed.

Sean O`Driscoll could still bring in further players before the transfer window closes, as well as bringing in four players this week already, continuing Ryan said there are a couple more in the fire, there`s a lot of work going on".

Some very interesting points, so we have definitely signed one more and two more possibles. Also he revealed the Mills transfer amount, can't understand why they kept it undisclosed now.

Seems odd, when Forest allegedly offered over £2m? Perhaps structured differently!?
Our Kids Dad
I listened to the interview and Ryan said you also only offered £1.5 million.
