DRFC Notts County v Doncaster Rovers preview

DRFC Notts County v Doncaster Rovers preview

Doncaster travel to big spending Notts County and Sven Goran Eriksson on Tuesday night in a Carling Cup first round tie.

Rovers will be looking for revenge after losing to County at the same stage last season.

Form

Notts County
County started the season in style beating Bradford City 5-0 at Meadow Lane on Saturday. Lee Hughes who was a target for Rovers in the January transfer window scored a hat trick on his League debut for the club.

In their last six home games last season they drew one and lost five, it`s certainly a much different County side though that has started this season.

County went out at the second round stage last season losing 4-0 at Premiership Wigan Athletic.

Doncaster
Rovers started the season with a 1-1 draw at Watford, James Hayter equalised for the Rovers and they came away from the game feeling a little bit unlucky after Dean Shiels shot was adjudged to have not crossed the line when video replays showed it did.

In their last six away games of last season, Rovers won three and lost three.

Rovers went out at this stage last season against Tuesday`s opposition.

History in the Cup

The two clubs have met eleven times in all cup competitions with Rovers winning six games to County`s four.

They met at the same stage last season when Myles Weston scored an extra time winner for County.

When the two clubs met at this stage in 1985 the tie was played over two legs with County going through on the away goal rule.

Overall in all games at Meadow Lane the two clubs have met 23 times with County winning 11, Rovers 9 wins and 3 draws.
