DRFC Rovers v Spurs Vital Preview

Doncaster Rovers entertain Premiership Tottenham Hotspur in a Carling Cup second round clash on Wednesday night.

Rovers

Doncaster lost their first game of the season on Saturday when going down 2-0 at Middlesbrough.

In their other three league games, they have drawn them all.

In the first round, they defeated Notts County 1-0 at Meadow Lane thanks to a goal from James Coppinger.

Last season they lost at the same stage 1-0 against the same opposition.

Spurs

Spurs have made a great start to the season winning all three of their opening games against Liverpool, Hull and West Ham.

They are one of the form sides of the competition in recent seasons reaching the final for the past two seasons.

In 2008 they beat Chelsea 2-1 after extra time thanks to a winner from Jonathan Woodgate.

In last seasons competition they eventually lost to Manchester United on penalties 4-1.

History

The two clubs haven`t met since 1975 when Spurs beat Rovers 7-2 in a League Cup fifth round tie at White Hart Lane.

Their paths have only ever crossed eight times in their histories, at Doncaster they have both enjoyed one victory with two games ending in draws.
