DRFC Rovers sign Sharp

Doncaster Rovers have signed Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp.

The striker who has been rumoured with Rovers over the summer will stay on loan for the rest of the season.

Sharp has struggled since joining the Blades after having an excellent scoring record at his previous club Scunthorpe United, where he scored 56 goals in 95 appearances.

A great signing, if he can refind the form he had at Scunthorpe he will be the difference between us struggling and being close to the play offs. Another player I would have liked to have seen sign full time. If he does well somebody might vome in and pinch him.

I have to agree. I think that some teams will be worried now when playing the Rovers.

What worries me is he scores a stack full before Christmas and somebody comes in for him in the January window.

if the scores a stackfull he will have a future at the lane, don't forget he's a blade. This is his last chance to prove that he has a future at sheff utd. It's his ability at this level that he has to prove to blackwell. If he can find the form he encounted at scunny then he will come back to the lane for sure, hence the reason this is a loan signing and not a premanent deal.

Blackwell's already shown that he can knacker up a good forward. He was a good goalscorer when he joined you and Blackwell managed to stop his goals, like he's done with plenty of forwards during his time with you and Leeds.

Blackwell has nothing to do with it, I would love to be proved wrong but Sharp isn't good enough at this level, never has been and never will be. He was even worse under Robson actually.

he will be the main man at donny just like he was at scunny. at the lane it's totally different as there are better players around him and competition is much more fierce. its a much bigger club so is to be expected. i think sharp will do well for you lot like i've said it's make or break time to prove himself.

I reckon you could still be paying some of his wages in the loan deal. We couldn't afford his wages last month when we wanted to buy him, so I bet they have offered to subsidise Rovers to take him off your hands.
