DRFC Newcastle v Doncaster Rovers Preview

Doncaster Rovers travel to Newcastle United on Saturday for their first visit to St James Park since 1973.

The Toon are having their worst run of the season having gone five games without a win and lost both their away games this week at Nottingham Forest 1-0 and Scunthorpe 2-1.

So far at home this season they have won four and drawn two.

Doncaster
Rovers recorded their second win of the season on Tuesday night when they beat Peterborough 3-1 at home.

So far on their travels this season they have drawn four and lost two. Their only two defeats coming at Middlesbrough and West Brom, the other two sides to be relegated from the Premiership last season with Newcastle.

History

The two clubs have only ever met on seven occasions with Newcastle winning six and one being drawn.

Rovers will be hoping to improve on their previous record at St James Park having lost on all four visits. They have also conceded seventeen goals and scored only one.

The two clubs met in pre season before the start of the 2008/09 season at the Keepmoat with Stuart Elliott scoring a late winner in a 1-0 win for Rovers.
