DRFC O'Driscoll hoping to sign Gillett

Doncaster Rovers are hoping to make Simon Gillett`s loan deal permanent once the transfer window reopens in January.

Gillett who is on loan from Southampton was due to go back to his parent club on December 12th but Rovers have now extended this into the New Year.

Speaking on the official website boss Sean O`Driscoll said 'We are in the process of offering Simon a contract,' O'Driscoll revealed. 'I believe that the loan has been extended because it currently ends on December 12, so we have extended that into January and once the window opens we'd very much like to take him on a permanent contract.

'Negotiations are ongoing at the minute.'

The midfielder who was brought in after the long term injury to Brian Stock has impressed for Rovers and has made seven starts during his stay so far.

Will he get many games once Stock is back fit?

Gillett was dropped at the weekend and they won well, does that mean Oster, Fortune or Stock are going or all?!

Played very well in his first few games, not sure about him long term although O'Driscoll does seem to be able to get something extra from his players once they have settled in.
