DRFC O'Driscoll - I wasn't prepared to walk out

Sean O`Driscoll has spoke for the first time since being strongly linked with the Premiership job at Burnley this week.

'The issue of compensation was always the stumbling block for anything. That had to be solved before we took anything further." Sean said on the official website.

O`Driscoll was the short price favourite and was believed to be on a shortlist of two for the job with Brian Laws who eventually got the job.

Continuing Sean said 'One of my options was to walk, but I made it very clear from day one that that was one of the things I wasn't prepared to do.'

In a day and age where money seems to be the incentive of most managers and players, and the chance to manage in the Premiership it`s nice to see some people in the game still have principles, and O`Driscoll should take great credit for that.

O`Driscoll will now turn his attention back to what happens on the pitch this weekend, with Rovers hoping to play their first game since Christmas when they entertain Watford.

Volunteers have helped clear the Keepmoat pitch this week and with a thaw starting around the country, Rovers will be very hopeful the game will go ahead.

Very rare commodity to see someone have principles in the game.

Good on him for putting his principles first. They should offer him an improved contract if they haven't already, before the next team come knocking.

Lets hope Donny have the same principles if things go bad Daz
