DRFC Oster extends stay

Doncaster Rovers are to extend the contract of midfielder John Oster until the end of the season according to reports on BBC Radio Sheffield.

Oster joined on trial in the summer and signed a short term deal with the club which is due to run out this month.

The former Reading and Crystal Palace player has become a regular in Sean O`Driscoll`s side this season making 24 appearances so far.

Rovers are also hoping to sign Simon Gillett who enjoyed a successful loan spell before going back to his parent club Southampton at the start of the month.

The two clubs have agreed a fee for the midfielder; Rovers are now in contract talks with the 24 year old.

Quinton Fortune looks set to leave the club, the former Manchester United player has struggled with injuries since signing for Rovers on a short term deal in August.

His deal is set to run out this month with Rovers not looking to renew it.

He's deserved the contract extension, he's done well since arriving.

Glad to see Osters got an extension. Not surprised to see Rovers offloading Fortune, hardly paid and I bet he was on a good wage and with Rovers tight budget they couldn't afford to pay someone who spent more time on the treatment table.

from some of the reports we will be lucky to keep all of our players in tnis window. So to keep Oster is a bonus, he does play well within the teamc structure.

How many players do we have out of contract in the summer?
