DRFC O'Driscoll - We deserved it

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll was delighted with his side`s performance in the 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest and said the victory was fully deserved.

Speaking on the official website, O`Driscoll said "I`m trying not to look at it through rose tinted glasses, but I`d like to think that we deserved it".

Rovers won thanks to Billy Sharp`s twelfth goal of the season just past the half hour when he got his head to a James Chambers cross.

Sharp was a handful all afternoon and troubled the Forest defence on a number of occasions.

Forest`s hopes of earning a point were dealt a blow inside the final ten minutes when Gareth McCleary was sent off for a foul on John Oster.

It was a very important win for Rovers who now have a bit of daylight between themselves and the relegation zone.

After three consecutive defeats, Rovers have comeback with two clean sheets and four points against two sides chasing promotion in Leicester City and Nottingham Forest.

Next up for Rovers is a South Yorkshire derby at Sheffield Wednesday who are much improved since the arrival of new boss Alan Irvine.

I think another nine points should be enough to secure safety this season.
