'If It's Football, It's Vital'

O'Connor Is A Rover

Rovers today paid Bournemouth £130k for James O'Connor. The young right-back is regarded as one of the best players in his position in League One.

O'Connor has signed a three-year contract and described the move as 'the right move at the right time of my career'.

He still had 12 months left on his contract, but Bournemouth felt the deal was too good to refuse.

In a press conference the ex-Villa player said 'I heard an offer had been accepted by Bournemouth at the end of last week and was told I could go and speak to Doncaster which I did. I spoke to their manager and he told me about their plans. They are an ambitious club and I was really impressed by what he had to say.

'I'm ambitious like any footballer should be and ambition is the key word. I've been shown plans of their new stadium and I've been told about the players they are bringing in. It's impressive and hopefully it will give me a chance of moving up a level which is something I want to do.'

O'Connor becomes Rovers third signing this week.
