DRFC Doncaster v Scunthorpe Preview

Doncaster Rovers and Scunthorpe United meet on Saturday at the Keepmoat with both sides safely in the Championship for another season.

Form

Doncaster
Rovers have gone four games without a win this month after looking like making a late push for a play off place at the start of it.

Last time out they drew 1-1 at Ipswich Town.

Last time out at home they lost 3-2 against West Bromwich Albion.

Recent home form: LLLDWD

Scunthorpe
The Iron ensured they will be playing in the Championship next season when they scored two late goals in midweek to draw 2-2 with Reading.

Last time out away from home they lost 3-2 at Preston.

Recent away form: LLWLLL

History

The two sides have met on 29 occasions at Doncaster with the home side winning 12, Scunthorpe winning 9 and 8 have been drawn.

The last time they met at the Keepmoat the two sides battled out an entertaining 2-2 draw.

When the two sides met earlier in the season they score also finished 2-2 in a pulsating game. Rovers led 2-0 thanks to goals from Martin Woods and Billy Sharp. The game changed with just over twenty minutes remaining when Rovers had John Oster sent off and Scunthorpe pulled a goal back shortly afterwards through Cliff Byrne.
It was to get worse for Rovers when they had their second player of the afternoon sent off when Quentin Fortune was given his marching orders.

It looked like Rovers were going to hang onto the three points until deep into injury time when Scunthorpe were awarded a penalty for handball. Grant McCann beat Neil Sullivan in the Rovers goal to earn the home side a share of the spoils.

A good local derby to end the season at the keepmoat.

Should be a good game. Well done to both clubs as well this season, both working under extreme circumstances with a very limited budget yet the are both going to be in the championship again next season. Hats Off
