DRFC Smith - I've shown what I can do

Goalkeeper Ben Smith believes he`s shown the manager what he can do when getting a rare start at Swansea City on Sunday.

Smith made his first league start of the season as O`Driscoll decided to rest regular number one Neil Sullivan.

Although he didn`t have too many saves to make in the Rovers goal he was happy with keeping a clean sheet.

Speaking on the official website, Smith said, "I enjoyed it a lot, I`ve been waiting for my chance all year. It would have been nice to have a couple more games. But I feel I have shown what I can do and that I can bring something to this team".

The 23 year old is out of contract in the summer and is still unsure as to what the future will hold.

Since signing for Rovers in 2006, he`s made just 23 appearances as veteran keeper Neil Sullivan as been an almost ever present in the Rovers goal.

Smith as twice-enjoyed loan spells away from the Keepmoat, his latest being at League Two side Morecambe earlier in the season where he made three appearances.

Can't see him being at Rovers next season, I think he will be released even if Sulli decides to call it a day.
