DRFC Ryan gives O'Driscoll biggest budget

Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan says that club boss Sean O`Driscoll has got the biggest transfer budget in the clubs history to work with over the summer.

Speaking on the official website, Ryan Said "The board have given Sean and his team the that has ever been given to a Rovers manager by a significant amount. We will not pay wages that we feel are out of tune with the real world and put the club in financial difficulties."

Despite this, Rovers have missed out on both Jason Shackell and Gareth Roberts in the past two days to clubs that are willing to offer them more wages.

With Rovers averaging just under 11,000 at the Keepmoat last season it is difficult for the club to make the cash available to compete with their fellow Championship sides with larger average attendances.

Rovers have proved their doubters wrong since promotion to the second tier of English football.

They finished fourteenth in their first season and twelfth this season, their best finish in over 50 years.

A big budget that will probably still only get him average players.

I can understand why he doesn't want to risk it all by spending lots of cash. Only a small average attendance so always going to struggle to match a lot of Championship clubs. You only have to look at the clubs who have tried that route and failed to realise why he isn't willing to take the chance.
