Rover Facing Jail Threat

Phil McGuire faces jail for beating up his wife only months after she found out the defender was cheating on him.

The ex-Aberdeen player hit his 25 year old wife (Kara) after he returned from a night out with his Donny teammates. She fled back up to Scotland with their young child.

Kara found out earlier in the year that McGuire had slept with two other women.

In the Scottish Sunday Mail, Cora Fraser urged her son-in-law to change his ways:

'Cora said: 'Kara was very distressed when she got home. Phil had punched her arm and leg - it was very noticeable.

'I think they'd had an argument by phone before he came home.

'Kara is hoping to sort things out with Phil but this past year has been a very troubling time for her.

'I just don't think she can forget or forgive those other lassies but she doesn't want Derryn to grow up without a dad.

'I don't know what is going to happen with the court case but I just hope he will change his ways for her sake.'

McGuire was charged with common assault and pleaded guilty in court. He was given bail but was told he must keep away from his wife. He broke that condition a week later. McGuire faces a custodial sentence when he reappears in court next month.

McGuire was transfer-listed by Rovers two weeks a go and is rumoured to be on £200,000 a year.

Rovers Chief Executive David Morris said: 'The club do not condone domestic violence and view the event dimly. We will take action when we are aware of the action the courts will take.'

So he done wrong. Everybody makes mistakes and Phil's was marrying Cara & her Mother. Don't always believe what you read in the gutter press there is always two sides to every story. Phil needs to speak out and give his side but he is to much of a gentleman to do that.
