DRFC Sharp on his way to Burnley

According to reports on Sky Sports News Burnley have had an offer for Billy Sharp excepted by Sheffield United.

The striker spent almost the whole of last season on loan at Doncaster and the news if true will come as a blow to the club.

It looks like Burnley, who were recently relegated from the Premier League, are already flexing their parachute payment cash having signed another striker, Chris Iwelumo from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee earlier today.

Sharp had a highly successful season at the Keepmoat scoring 15 goals in 35 appearances.

He also scored in six games in a row during November and December, becoming the first player in a Rovers shirt to do so since Peter Kitchen in the 1976/77 season.

The run of form saw him also pick up the Championship fans player of the month award for December.

Hard to compete with sides coming down from the Premier League, unless your Pompey or Hull.
dazza71
dazza I'd rather keep Fletcher no disrespect to Sharp.

How are Rovers supposed to compete with a side that gets the parachute payment from the Premier League when it comes to transfers and wages? I think they might be back in for O'Driscoll as well soon, I still can't work out why they went for Brian Laws.
DonnyEd
as regards Laws he didnt cost anything. Sharp could go to any number of clube but dont give up on The Rovers just yet. It is difficult trying to compete with the parachute payment, but i would sooner have a team to support rather than end up like Hull or Portsmouth.
