DRFC Premiership new boys join Rovers in Devon

Doncaster Rovers have been joined in the Joma 2010 South West Challenge cup by newly promoted to the Premiership Blackpool

Blackpool who won the competition last pre season, have taken up the opportunity to defend their crown by accepting a wild card invitation.

The competition comprises of 15 matches in total and will run from Monday July 19th to Sunday July 25th.

Eleven other sides in the competition will join Rovers and now Blackpool.

They are Accrington Stanley. Leyton Orient and Shrewsbury Town from the Football League, Kilmarnock from the Scottish Premier League and non-league sides Barnstaple Town, Bideford, Eastleigh, Havant & Waterlooville, Ilfracombe Town, Rushden & Diamonds and Truro City.

There is currently five grounds announced that will be used during the duration of the competition, the club grounds to be annouced are:

Barnstaple Town, Bideford, Holsworthy, Ilfracombe and Torrington.

More grounds are still to be announced.

I still think its fantastic that Blackpool have reached the Premier League and it certainly should give encouragement to all side is the Championship like Rovers who are working on a much smaller budget than most.

Should be a very good competition and quite a bit of match practice to be had.
