DRFC Owls to face Rovers in pre season

DRFC Owls to face Rovers in pre season

Doncaster Rovers have announced another pre season fixture today against League One side Sheffield Wednesday.

The game will take place at the Keepmoat on Saturday July 31st with a 3pm kick off.

It will be Rovers final game before the new Championship season kicks off on the following Saturday.

Rovers and Wednesday met in the Championship last season with Rovers completing their first ever double over their South Yorkshire neighbours.

Billy Sharp scored the only goal of the game at the Keepmoat in December to give Rovers a 1-0 win. A superb Elliott Ward overhead kick on his debut and an own goal earned Rovers a 2-0 win at Hillsborough in February.

Wednesday dropped out of the Championship on the final day of the season when they could only draw at home with Crystal Palace when a win would have sent their opposition down.

Rovers will also face West Brom at the Keepmoat in pre season on Tuesday July 27th.

They now have five fixtures confirmed in pre season as well as a one-week tournament in Devon.

Should be a good end to pre season.

Was a lot of trouble in town when the two sides met in pre season a few years ago. Surprised the OB allowed it.
