DRFC Fairhurst signs new deal

Doncaster Rovers young striker Waide Fairhurst has signed a new contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2012.

The 21 year old who as come through the ranks at the Keepmoat, made his Rovers debut as a substitute in the defeat at Coventry City towards the end of the 2008/09 season and he went on to make another two appearances from the bench that season.

Fairhurst impressed when breaking into the starting eleven early last season when he scored within seven minutes of his full debut at West Bromwich Albion.

Fairhurst was on target again in Rovers next game when he scored the opener against Ipswich Town.

The striker ended the season making just the seven appearances and finding the net twice.

The youngster was sent out on loan at Shrewsbury around the turn of the year and enjoyed a successful loan spell where he scored four goals in ten games before a foot injury ended his stay.

He looked promising last season, he needs to start breaking through though this season and getting quite a few more games under his belt.

Good Luck to Waide. Hope he gets more games this season to prove himself.

I couldn't understand how he came in and scored a few goals and then was quickly left out again. I think he's got a promising future.
