DRFC Spicer joins County

DRFC Spicer joins County

John Spicer who was released by Doncaster Rovers at the end of last season has joined League One side Notts County.

The midfielder has joined ambitious County on a two year contract.

County were promoted as champions from League Two at the end of last season and beat of competition, including Leyton Orient, for his signature where he enjoyed a loan spell last season.

The 26 year old signed for Rovers in the summer of 2008 and was a regular in his first season with the club.

He struggled to hold down a regular starting place in the side last term, making just ten starts and spent the last two months of the season on loan at Leyton Orient.

I thought he would want to move back to Orient to be close to where he's originally from.

I really liked him during his first season. Woods and Oster both looked good in midfield last season which saw him drop down the pecking order. He must have realised his names were numbered when we kept on bringing in loan players rather than playing him. I wish him all the best at County.
