'If It's Football, It's Vital'

DRFC O'Driscoll delighted to see Sharp return

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll is delighted to have striker Billy Sharp back at the club and says it`s not just his goals that makes Sharp an important player to the club.

Speaking at the press conference to announce the signing of Sharp, O`Driscoll said, 'Everyone knows what a difference Billy's goals made to us last season, but on top of that he very quickly became an integral and popular member of the squad, always displaying a great attitude and willing to put in a real shift for the good of the team.

'He is one of those characters who is great to have around a football club and he just loves playing football and scoring goals."

Sharp scored 15 goals whilst on loan at Rovers last season from Sheffield United and looked well set to reach the 20-goal mark until injury in the local derby win at Barnsley in March ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

The 24 year old is O`Driscoll`s second signing of the summer following the arrival of defender George Friend from Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.

O`Driscoll will continue his squad building ahead of the new season with the arrival of Simon Gillett after it was reported that the midfielder, who was released by Southampton at the end of last season, had completed a medical at the club.

That must come as a great relief to O'Driscoll to get a goalscorer who has already proved he can do it in the Championship for Rovers.

I wonder how many more O'Driscoll is looking to bring in, I think we need to bring in another central defender.

A lot more pressure on both Sharp and O'Driscoll this season now with this sort of money spent.
