Doncaster Rovers Chairman John Ryan is delighted to finally see the club land Billy Sharp permanently in a club record transfer.
Sharp who joined Rovers on a season long loan last season looked to have been priced out of a deal to rejoin the club earlier in the summer on a permanent deal when Rovers had an initial bid rejected by Sheffield United.
Sheffield United then accepted a bid from Burnley and it looked like he would be on his way to Turf Moor to join the side that were relegated from the Premiership at the end of last season.
Rovers came back in with a club record £1.15 million offer to clinch the signing of last seasons leading goalscorer at the club.
Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Ryan said, "I`m absolutely delighted he`s made this decision, he`s only just 24, the worlds still his oyster.
Hopefully it shows the sporting public of Doncaster, that Doncaster Rovers means business. We are not just in the Championship to escape relegation."
Ryan went on to say that he believes the squad is the best in the history of Doncaster Rovers and that the side just 'oozes` class and can be up amongst the front runners this season.
The Chairman also said that the signing of Billy Sharp was done outside the budget set out for manager Sean O`Driscoll this summer and was financed by himself, his two partners and that the rest of the board to ensure that Sharp returned to the Keepmoat.
