'If It's Football, It's Vital'

DRFC Rovers chasing Wolves striker

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll has admitted that the club have made an informal enquiry about taking Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Andy Keogh on loan.

The 24 year old made thirteen appearances for Wolves in the Premier League last season scoring one goal.
His only goal in the Premier League was the winner at Wigan Athletic in the early weeks of the season.

Keogh was the striker partner of Billy Sharp at Scunthorpe in the 2006/07 season; the two become a formidable partnership in the first half of the season as Scunthorpe headed towards promotion.

The Republic of Ireland internationals form saw Wolves make a move for the striker during the January transfer window and they clinched his services in a deal worth around £600,000.

Speaking on radio Sheffield about the opportunity to reunite the former teammates, O`Driscoll said, 'To put Andy and Billy together again is something to consider.

'You talk to a lot of clubs about players without making a concrete offer and we have done that with Andy Keogh.'

Sharp who signed for Rovers on Wednesday for a club record transfer fee admitted that he had spoken to his former Scunthorpe teammate about the possibility of them playing together again, speaking on Radio Sheffield, Sharp said, 'Keogh is one of my good mates. He has mentioned it to me, he wants to play football like me and Doncaster are interested in him.'

Doncaster Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers have a good working relationship in recent seasons.

Rovers were Wolves final visitors to Molineux on the final day of the 2008/09 season when the home side celebrated winning the Championship title and the fans from both clubs participated in making it a special day.

Mick McCarthy then brought his side to the Keepmoat in pre season last year in Mickey Walker`s testimonial game.

Rovers then took defender Jason Shackell on loan from Wolves for the vast majority of last season.

Rovers signed defender George Friend last month after being released by Wolves at the end of last season on a two-year deal.

Listening to Wolves fans, although he's not scored many goals he works really hard for the team. Him and Sharp could be a brilliant partnership.

Would be a good signing, him and Sharp are still good friends and already know exactly how the other plays. We have a great relationship with Wolves, lets get him now with a view to a permanet move in January if he's doing well(a fee already agreed) we don't want any of the rubbish we have had to endure all summer like we have with Billy, although it all ended well in the end.
