DRFC Hayter all set to sign new deal

Doncaster Rovers striker James Hayter is all set to sign a new contract with the club.

Hayter, who joined Rovers in 2007 from Bournemouth, contract at the club ran out at the end of last season and along with Neil Sullivan, Adam Lockwood, Gary Woods, John Oster and Mark Wilson was offered a new contract.

With the other five already signed on the dotted line fans were beginning to wonder what the situation was with Hayter who has started pre season training at the club and scored in the first friendly match last week.

Speaking on the official website, Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll said, James Hayter is all done. He hasn`t actually signed yet, but it has all been agreed. It`s just a case of somebody typing the contract up which, these days, is not as simple as it used to be."

The 31 year old enjoyed a good season for Rovers last term scoring nine goals and was a regular in the side.

In his three seasons with the club, he as so far scored 25 goals.
Of those 25, Rovers fans will most famously remember him for his headed winner against Leeds United, in the 2008 League One Play off final.

I must admit I wondered what he was doing, I have not always been sure about him but he's certainly one of O'Driscoll's favourites.

He improved a lot last season, if we bring in another striker like Keogh not sure where he will fit in especially with the number of decent midfielders we have.
