DRFC Hayter signs new two year deal

Doncaster Rovers one time record signing James Hayter has signed a new two year deal with the club.

The striker joined Rovers from Bournemouth in the summer of 2007 for 200,000 and he as scored 25 goals in his three seasons at the club.

The 31 year old will go down in the Rovers history books as the player who scored the only goal of the game in the League One play off final at Wembley in 2008 against Leeds United to earn Rovers promotion to the second flight of English football, for the first time in fifty years.

Hayter is the last of those players who were out of contract this summer to sign a new deal and he joins Neil Sullivan, John Oster, Mark Wilson, Adam Lockwood and Gary Woods in signing new deals to stay at the Keepmoat.

Not quite sure how he will fit into any system Rovers play this season if they are trying to bring in another striker.

25 goals in three seasons as a striker isn't good enough for me. We should have let him go.

Have to wonder whether his wages would be better spent being put towards a better striker. 8 goals a season doesn't cut it.
